Built by a dad, for the love of family
BubCue brings together two parts of my life: being a father of two, and working in IT. Care for my children and respect for their privacy sit at the heart of everything I build.
When I think about the technology I want around my children, I start with a simple question: does it respect our family?
Being a dad of two shapes the way I see the small, everyday moments at home. I want to be present for them. I also want the tools we invite into our lives to treat those moments with care.
My work in IT has made me care deeply about where information goes, who can access it, and how much of it needs to exist in the first place. A nursery is an especially personal place to bring a camera and microphone.
A private connection
That is what led me to build BubCue: a baby monitor that gives a compatible spare phone a useful new role, with on-device processing and control over who can watch at its foundation.
The idea is straightforward. The phone in the nursery does the processing. You choose who can watch, whether they are nearby or further away. Video goes directly to the devices you let watch, encrypted. There are no ads or third-party analytics SDKs in the app.
Care for our children includes care for the moments and information that belong to them.
Built with care, one decision at a time
BubCue is an independently built product. I’ve worked through the details of everyday monitoring: seeing and listening, bringing distant family into the picture, and making room for everyday life with picture-in-picture. Each feature needs clear limits and careful testing.
I also believe intelligence should be described honestly. A sound alert is a sound alert. Cry recognition needs testing. Monitoring has limits, and the app should make those limits understandable.
My hope is to make something useful, thoughtful and respectful of the families who choose it. A little help staying connected, with privacy built into the decisions behind it.

What that means in the app
Phone to phone
Live video and sound go directly between your devices, encrypted. No BubCue server or relay receives them, and BubCue does not record them.
Analysis stays in the nursery
Audio and image analysis runs only on the nursery phone. No cloud AI service, and no ads or third-party analytics in the app.
You choose who watches
People join only with your QR code, your browser link on the same Wi-Fi, or an invitation, up to two at once. You can remove a viewer using the BubCue app, and Stop disconnects everyone. Access ends when you stop monitoring.
